In a letter to revenue minister R B Udhayakumar, Krishnasamy said it was reported that Ramanathapuram district Revenue Department Employees Association had demanded creation of a new district with Kamudhi as its headquarters.
On the basis of the demand, revenue joint secretary had sought a report from the revenue additional commissioner about the feasibility of creating a new district.
"The joint secretary's concern over the association's demand raises many doubts and shows ulterior motive. Without hearing public opinion, the government has taken steps to consider the demand," Krishnasamy said.
